ASSURED at UITP Summit in Stockholm

Published on

From 9 to 12 June, the UITP Global Public Transport Summit will take place in Stockholm, Sweden. With electric buses and operational excellence overall being one of the core topics of the event, ASSURED will be present with two poster sessions (accessible to all visitors) and one Networking User Group Workshop that includes an Expert Talk together with the JIVE project.

Poster sessions:

Poster session: Supporting e-bus large scale deployment

ASSURED presentation: 'Ensuring short-term e-bus compatibility and interoperability within Europe - ASSURED 1.0 specification'

Date: Monday 10 June, 14.00 - 15.00

Speaker: Mr. Marko Paakkinen, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

As the standardisation for electric bus fast-charging systems is not yet completely finished, the ASSURED project has identified a need to create a first baseline specification for implementation of three different charging systems using automated connection devices. The specification will be used for conformance and interoperability testing and demonstrations within ASSURED, but the specification is also planned to be released as public, for wider utilisation.

Poster session: E-buses for the masses

ASSURED presentation:'Feasibility study of re-configurability between different power transmission concepts'

Date: Tuesday 11 June, 15.30 - 16.30

Speaker: Ashkan Pirooz, VUB

This research has been done in the framework of ASSURED towards fast and smart charging solutions for electric urban heavy-duty vehicles. The study has been conducted through electrical, mechanical, and communication modifications made on charging infrastructure and electric buses to investigate reconfiguration of state of the art of fast charging inverted and roof-mounted pantographs into each other. Standardisation points of view are also included to ensure interoperability support by pantographs solutions.

Workshop

The workshop, which will be organised by ASSURED in collaboration with projects JIVE and JIVE2, will take place on Tuesday 11 June (13.00 - 18.00) and will see the Networking User Group discussing the topic of 'Road charging and refuelling infrastructure for zero-emission buses'.

As part of this afternoon, an ASSURED Expert Talk will be held at the UITP Stand (14.00 - 14.30) together with H2020 project JIVE. While the Networking User Group discussion is invitation only, the expert talk is open to everyone, so drop by and join us!

Of course, there is much more to discover on clean and electric buses during the UITP Summit! You can find the complete Summit programme here, but below you can already find some sessions we have highlighted for you:
