From 9 to 12 June, the UITP Global Public Transport Summit will take place in Stockholm, Sweden. With electric buses and operational excellence overall being one of the core topics of the event, ASSURED will be present with two poster sessions (accessible to all visitors) and one Networking User Group Workshop (invitation only).
'Ensuring short-term e-bus compatibility and interoperability within Europe - ASSURED 1.0 specification'
Date: Monday 10 June, 14.00 - 15.00
Speaker: Mr. Marko Paakkinen, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
As the standardisation for electric bus fast-charging systems is not yet completely finished, the ASSURED project has identified a need to create a first baseline specification for implementation of three different charging systems using automated connection devices. The specification will be used for conformance and interoperability testing and demonstrations within ASSURED, but the specification is also planned to be released as public, for wider utilisation.
'Feasibility study of re-configurability between different power transmission concepts'
Date: Tuesday 11 June, 15.30 - 16.30
Speaker: Ashkan Pirooz, VUB
This research has been done in the framework of ASSURED towards fast and smart charging solutions for electric urban heavy-duty vehicles. The study has been conducted through electrical, mechanical, and communication modifications made on charging infrastructure and electric buses to investigate reconfiguration of state of the art of fast charging inverted and roof-mounted pantographs into each other. Standardisation points of view are also included to ensure interoperability support by pantographs solutions.
The workshop, which will be organised by ASSURED in collaboration with projects JIVE and JIVE2, will take place on Tuesday 11 June (13.00 - 18.00) and will see the Networking User Group discussing the topic of 'Road charging and refuelling infrastructure for zero-emission buses' (invitation only).
Of course, there is much more to discover on clean and electric buses during the UITP Summit! You can find the complete Summit programme here, but below you can already find some sessions we have highlighted for you:
- 'Roll-out and management of e-bus fleets', 10 June, 11.00 - 12.30. Chaired by Renée Amilcar, Chair of the UITP Bus Committee and Executive Director Bus, Société de Transport de Montréal;
- 'Increasing efficiency of bus networks: from bus priority schemes to BRT', 11 June, 09.00 - 10.30. Chaired by Richele Cabral Goncalves, Urban Mobility Director at Federacao das Empresas de Transportes de Passageiros do Estado do Rio De Janeiro;
- 'Tackling the challenges to operating of fleets of e-buses', 11 June, 11.00 - 12.00. Chaired by Arno Kerkhof, Head of UITP Bus Division;
- 'Roadmap for transition to clean bus fleets in emerging economies', 12 June, 09.00 - 10.30. Chaired by Ray Minjares, Clean Air Program Lead, The International Council on Clean Transportation.
We hope to see you in Stockholm!
