On 18 March, TMB (Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona) played host to the ASSURED Online Demo Launch in Barcelona. Together with the ASSURED Consortium, the European Commission and UITP (the International Association of Public Transport), TMB welcomed participants to experience the interoperability between buses and chargers with panto-up technology in real operation.
Welcome words were provided by TMB CEO Gerardo Lertxundi, Maurizio Maggiore from the European Commission's DG Research and Innovation, and UITP President Pere Calvet. A closing message was brought by TMB President Rosa Alarcón.
During the event, the focus was on ASSURED buses and charging infrastructure, with partners VDL Bus & Coach, Irizar, Jema, Heliox and ABB displaying their buses and chargers, fully integrated into TMB operation. Furthermore, host TMB explained us more about the operator's strategy for renewable energies. Finally, we heard from partner IDIADA how they have tested interoperability in their controlled testing environment.
