ASSURED is happy to announce that project partners Stadtwerke Osnabrück and VDL Bus & Coach have signed an agreement, under which VDL has been chosen as system supplier for the further electrification of local transport. VDL will be supplying 49 more articulated electric buses for the future MetroBus lines in Osnabrück.

"We are delighted to be able to continue and expand an already proven and trustful partnership," emphasised Lord Mayor Wolfgang Griesert and Dr. Stephan Rolfes, Member of the Board of Stadtwerke Osnabrück, at the official signing of the contract which took place in front of one of the new VDL articulated electric buses already in service. In December 2018, Stadtwerke launched an Europe-wide tender - this time for 49 buses including the charging infrastructure. VDL had already prevailed in the first contract procedure in 2017 - and is now awarded the contract for the second major delivery. This means that all 62 electric articulated buses, including the charging infrastructure, come from a single source, and will form the largest fleet of electric articulated buses in Germany.

"Of course, we are also very pleased with the contract," explained VDL Managing Director Henk Coppens. "Osnabrück is the German pioneer in the electrification of local transport. The partnership with Stadtwerke Osnabrück is therefore of central importance to us".
