Jema Energy to supply 11 charging systems for the first 100% electric line in Vitoria-Gasteiz

ASSURED partner Jema Energy is to supply 11 charging systems for distribution in Vitoria-Gasteiz and depots in the city’s first IEB (Intelligent Electric Bus) project.

The project involves installing seven intelligent and interoperable chargers from the ECID family ECID (2 x 50 kW) in depots and four interoperable opportunity chargers (600 kW) by pantograph at the Mendizorrotza and Boulevard stops.

The opportunity charging stations will allow buses to be charged without leaving their route and in just four minutes. The bus fleet will thus be able to provide an uninterrupted service throughout the day.

The ECI series of chargers consists of modular and interoperable chargers that can charge two buses at the same time by both cable and pantograph. The series also offers an intelligent charging system for efficient and quick charging.

The opportunity charger is one of the most powerful ones on the market today with a capacity of 600 kW. These 600 kW chargers can charge a vehicle to 90% of SOC in less than five minutes and, since they are bidirectional, allow G2V and V2G energy flows. The turnkey system connects the chargers to the medium voltage system with the certificates required by the operators.

The supply is part of the Intelligent Electric Bus (IE) project in Vitoria-Gasteiz in which companies such as Irizar, Yarritu and LKS are also participating. The termination of the project by Jema is scheduled for mid-March 2020.
